ADMONITIONS TO YOUTH

1.  Don't Forget God. (Eccl. 12:1)  He created you and made you the amazing person you are.  Read His word daily (Psalms 119:11.)  Pray fervently and often.  (James 5:16, 1 Thess. 5:17)  Worship regularly and faithfully with His people.  Don't become infatuated with "new approaches" to worship.  Associate with Christians at every opportunity. (1 Cor. 15:33)

2.  Honor Your Father and Mother. (Eph. 6:1-3)  This you should do because it is right. (v.1.)  It is also respectable and respectful. (v.2) And, it is wise. (v.3; See also Proverbs 1:7-9.)  Your parents are wiser than you, not because of superior intellect, but because of their experience.  A few decades may reveal they were considerably wiser than you ever dreamed!

3.  Keep Yourself Pure. (1 Tim. 5:22.)  This is accomplished by fleeing the lusts common to youth. (2 Tim. 2:22)  To keep yourself morally pure, look ahead.  The long-term disadvantages of immorality outweigh the momentary pleasures of the present.  Recognize the power of sex and prepare yourself to handle it virtuously.  Make a commitment of purity to God and yourself.  Make that commitment ahead of time.  Respect the tried and tested moral code of the Scriptures.  Remember.....no one ever regretted doing right and being decent, but thousands have regretted being immoral.

4.  Be A Good Example. (1 Tim. 4:12.)  You can make a difference.  In fact, you will make a difference, either for good or evil.  Paul alludes to at least six areas in which young people should be an "example of the believers."  They are: "word" (speech); "conversation" (conduct); "charity" (love); "spirit" (attitude); "faith" (belief); and, "purity". In this way young Christians can let their light shine in a world of darkness. (Matt. 5:13-16; Phil. 2:14-15.)
