"LOST KEYS"

Keys are important.  They open doors.  We use them everyday.  We become frustrated when we lose or misplace them.  Replacing a lost key can be expensive.  Keys also lock doors.  All kinds of doors utilize keys-autos, trucks, houses, safe deposit boxes, church buildings, and prisons.

What are some spiritual keys which may be lost?

    (1)   Apostolic Doctrine Is The Key To The Kingdom.   Peter and the other apostles were given "the keys of the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 16:19; 18:18; John 20:23.) The "keys" were used whenever they preached the gospel.  Terms of admission were the same for all.  Continuing steadfastly in "the apostles' doctrine" was a requisite for faithfulness. (See Acts 2:42.)  The "keys of the kingdom" have been lost by those who no longer view the gospel as the power of God unto salvation.  (Romans 1:16)  Substitutes and stand-ins are sought with an emphasis on whatever is in vague.  Faith is replaced by feelings; repentance by recreation; and obedience by abstinence.

    (2) Study Is The Key To Knowledge.  If your Bible knowledge is not what you think it should be, examine your study habits.  (See Acts 17:11.)  If our faith is not strong, there is a logical reason. (See Romans 10:17.)  Having God's approval depends upon a proper study and application of His Word. (See 2 Timothy 2:15.)

    (3) Service Is The Key To Greatness.  The world may have a different agenda, but humble, child-like service is still Christ's standard for greatness. (See Matthew 18:1-6; 20:27; 23:11.)

    (4)  Obedience Is The Key to Salvation.  Jesus still saves those who obey Him. (Hebrews 5:8-9; Matthew 7:21-23.) Heaven's gates will be open to the obedient, but not to the unbelieving. (Revelation 22:17; 21:8.)

    Don't lose these "keys"!
