I have heard good reports on the services Sunday. I am grateful to Javin for filling in for me Sunday morning. I appreciate Brian (Bennett) and Robert (Woodard) who spoke at the afternoon service. Their willingness to serve in the kingdom, along with our other young men, is very encouraging. We enjoyed being with all our family this past Saturday and Sunday as Michael graduated from the residency program of Floyd Medical Center in Rome, GA. He, Aletha and the children will now be living in Woodbury where he will be involved in family practice medicine.
Our attendance and contribution have been consistent over the past few weeks in spite of vacation time, illness, etc. For this we are grateful. If you do have to be away, be sure to take your “Road Map” (Bible) with you and try to plan your trip so that you can worship with faithful brethren in other places.
It is only a few days (July 13-19), until several of us will be involved in the annual Jackson-Smith County Youth Camp at the facilities of Taylor Christian Camp in Holland, KY. I appreciate all of you who go as campers, counselors, teachers, and cooks, as well as those who support camp monetarily and in so many other ways. We have an excellent staff again this year. We are very close to capacity with between 185-190 total attendees. The girls’ cabins are filled. We do have a few boys’ bunks available, but three male campers have been added this week. The theme of this year’s camp is “Lord We Come Before Thee Now” (A Study of Worship). Please pray for our efforts to teach and strengthen our young people. Visitors are invited to come on Friday evening. We are sorry we cannot feed everyone for the evening meal, but we will have refreshments for you after the evening devotional and the program following. We must be away from the camp grounds by 10:00 A.M. Saturday, so if you intend to pick up your child please arrive before that time.
I am away this evening to speak in Highland Heights’ (Lebanon) Summer Series. I hope you have a good rest of the week. I look forward to seeing all of you bright and early Sunday morning, our Lord willing.
