With the Hispanic population in
middle Tennessee increasing by as much as 25% over the
last five years. A need has arisen to minister to
this group of people in Smith County.
Plans are underway to begin a Spanish outreach program
in 2008 for our Spanish speaking friends in Smith
County.
In January 2006, the Carthage
Church of Christ began
overseeing a full time work in Toluca, Mexico. We
hope to teach the gospel in Toluca and at the same time
learn the language and culture of this Country. We hope
that this work will assist us in our Spanish outreach
program. We pray that our Lord will
bless this work and that many souls might be saved.
Toluca is a city in Mexico State in central Mexico.
It is the capital of the state of Mexico. In 2003
Toluca had an estimated population of about 475,000
people. It is only 45 minutes drive from Mexico
City and 30 minutes from its fast growing suburb, Santa
Fe. The climate is cold, keeping in view its
altitude. The Municipality of Metepec adds another
450,000 to the population and directly borders the city
of Toluca.
