JUNE 2006

June 1, 2006 - Today was another day of Spanish Class.    It's not good at all.   I do not like her teaching at all.   Tomorrow I am going to say something about it.   I am spending to much money on Spanish Class and not learning anything.   I am going to also see if I can get the last guy back that we had last week.   I learned a lot with him and his teaching was good.  But he did speak 4 languages thou so he should know how to teach it.  After class I went to the church and worked the rest of the day on stuff for the youth and for my trip home. 

June 2, 2006 - Today was Spanish class.  I told the teacher that I wished she would not skip around on all the stuff (I was nice about).   She said she would try and change the way she was teaching and she said she was glad that I told her about it.  After Spanish class I went to the Church building and worked till class at 8pm.  During class we talked about death and I had each kid write there own obituary.  Some of the kids I think got a lot of the class.  Some were really emotional about it.  After class one of the men from the church talked to the kids.   We have had a huge problem with kids playing with there cell phones and talking during the worship service.  We have tried everything we know but it had done no good.  It seems that most of the parents don't care what there kids do.  That is part of the culture thou.  I am glad that the men in the congregation has seen the problem and are now trying to help us with it.  

June 3, 2006 -  Today was Saturday and I worked at home all day on stuff for my trip home.   My Schedule is very busy for the two weeks I am at home.   I arrive Friday the 16th of June.  On Sunday the 18th I will be preaching at Carthage Church of Christ and also speaking at the bible study hour.  That night I will be speaking at Rome Church of Christ.  On Sunday June 25 I will be preaching at Montrose Church of Christ and also speaking at the bible study hour.   I have a lot of other things going on also the two weeks I will be home.

June 4, 2006 - Today was worship services which was good as always.  After worship service I went to the mall to eat and also watched a movie with a lot of people from the church.  It rained for most of the day which I don't like.

June 5, 2006 - Today I did all my laundry and worked at the house all day.  Tomorrow I am going to DF (Mexico City) to hopefully get my VISA.  I need to have some paperwork to get out of this country when I fly home.    I am hoping I will get the VISA and I am willing to pay more money to get it.  Even thou I don't think its right.  Just pray that it all goes well.

June 6, 2006 - Well today was really bad.  I am so tired of the way Mexican people work.   I was suppose to be at the church at 8am so I could go with the people going to DF.  That meant I had to skip Spanish class to go with them.  Well when I got to the church building they told me they were not going to go today.   So I went to the Spanish class but didn't have any of my books thou.  When I got back to the Church at 11:30am they decided they would go to DF today.  So I got all my stuff together and changed all my planes again.   Well then after I did all that they decided not to go and they said they would go tomorrow. GRRRRRRR,  I was so mad.   It takes forever here to get anything done.   This is the way everyone here works.     So I just stayed at the church and worked till about 2 and then I went and visited with my last Spanish teacher for awhile.

June 7, 2006 - Today I got at the church building at around 9am and we left for DF.   We went to my building first and it took mmmmmmmmmmmm 5 minutes of paper work and I walked out with my VISA.    YEAP,  I HAVE  MY MEXICAN VISA NOW.   No more trips to DF and long lines.   I am done.   I am so glad to get that out of the way.  It has been a long drawn out thing.   After that we went to some other offices to do some more paper work for the Church.    Then we went to eat and to one of the largest markets in the world.   I did not like it thou.   I just knew someone was going to rob me but they didn't.   We got home at around 8pm.   It was a long day and I was really tired.

June 8, 2006 - Today I had Spanish class and then worked at the church the rest of the day.  I had coffee with a friend after that.   I have so much stuff to do that I don't think I am going to be able to finish it before I leave next week.

June 9, 2006 -  THE WORLD CUP STARTED TODAY.  I am so happy.  Today I went to Spanish class and watched some of the first game.  After that I went to Church and worked the rest of the day.  It is Friday so I just stayed there till the class stated at 8pm.  Tonight I had the kids tell me how I have done the last 5 months and what are some things I need to change.   The kids really enjoyed it.  I got a lot of advice and now I need to work on they stuff they told me.   They also graded me on some stuff and as soon as I get the grades I will post them on here.   I got home at around 12am.   Like every Friday,  jaja.  It was my last Friday night class here also for the next 4 weeks.   I am going to miss not being here.

June 10, 2006 - Today was a bad day.   I had a lot of stuff to do to try and catch up on everything but at around 11am the power went off.    That is not good in Mexico.     When it goes off it stays off for the rest of the day.  I did some other things but I really need my lap top to get a lot of stuff done.   At around 2pm I went with my family and had supper with there family.     It was good but they do drink beer which I would rather not be around.  After that I went home and waited till about 7pm and still no power.       So I decide to go see ********* at his house.    He was cleaning the family car so I helped him a little, (yeah a little).   He invited me to go with him tomorrow to Irapuato which is about 5 hours from Toluca.   I told him I could go after church.   I need to stay at home and work but going with him is also work.   I don't want my work here to be all about paper work and sitting behind a desk.     This guy needs a good friend and I think I can help him a lot.      I tried to get him to go to church but he wanted to watch the World Cup tomorrow morning.  Mexico plays at 10:30am.     I think there will be a lot of people from the church not there tomorrow.       I hope they prove me wrong tomorrow.

June 11, 2006 - Today marks the 5 month mark.    Its been a great 5 months but I am ready for my trip to USA.  Today I went to Church service which was great.   The Church was full today.  Which surprised me.   I was thinking not many people would be there.   I know some people missed to stay home and watch the game, Mexico won, jaja.   After Church *********  came and picked me up.    He decide not to go to Irapuato today but to go tomorrow.     I don't have Spanish class tomorrow so that will work out good for me.     We went to the top of the volcano today.    It was cool to go up there.    I had trouble breathing thou.  It is one of the highest spots in Latin America.   After that we went and watched a movie at his house.    I stayed all night there also because we are leaving early in the morning.

June 12, 2006 - Today we left for Irapuato at around 7:30am.   We got there at around 11:30am.  ****** is going to cell his parents car to a lady there.  On the way there the check engine light came on.  When we got there we had to go around to all the places to try and get it fixed.  That took us the rest of the day.   After the lady said she would buy it we went to the bus station but it was already to late to take the bus back to Toluca.   So we had to stay all-night with his uncle.  It was a good stay and I enjoyed his family.  

June 13, 2006 - Today we went to his uncles work and stayed there till our bus left.  The bus left at 1pm and we did not get back to Toluca until 7:30pm.   I was a long trip back home.   When I got back to the house I started on all my paper work again.   I had power now,  jaja.   I hate this part of the work.   I do have my grades now that the youth group gave me.   From a scale of 1-10 I asked the kids to rate my job here.   For preparation of class and activities I got a 8.7 and only my attitude I got a 8.5  That was a lot higher then I thought I was going to get.   I know some of the kids don't like that I am so strict with stuff.      I did get some 4.0 thou.   I think that is from some of the girls,  jaja.   I have really been on them for some of the stuff the wear to church and class.   But anyway I am happy with the grades and hope to improve on them when I return.

June 14, 2006 - Today I had Spanish class which went ok.  After class I went with a friend to his school.  He wanted to show me around the college before I left.   After that I went home and worked on some stuff for my trip home.   Then I went to the church and worked for awhile.   It was a long day and I am trying to get everything done before I leave.

June 15, 2006 - Today was my last Spanish class for awhile and I am really happy about it,  jaha.   After that I went to church and said good bye to everyone.   Then I went to visit the Spanish teacher and to say good bye to her also.  I then worked at home on all my stuff.   My printer is not working now and I need to print some stuff off.    So I need to find a printer.   I also went around to all my friends house and said bye to all them.   Its a sad day.  I am going to miss all these people for the next 24 days. The good thing is that I made it thru the first 5 months.   It has been an up hill battle but I did it.  I am so glad I have made it to this point.   Well I don't know if I will keep this think updated while I am In USA.  I hope I do.   So long to everyone and I will see you very soon.

June 16, 2006 - Well today I got up at 4:30 am to begin my journey home.  My bus left Toluca at 6am and sent me right to the airport in DF.  This will be my last update for awhile.
